# DVA - The Vision

The DVA aims to promote sustainable and equitable public services by supporting municipalities, planning authorities, and political decision-makers with innovative tools and concepts.

The DVA provides powerful tools for analyzing and optimizing supply situations – both through a user-friendly web application and a specially developed ArcGIS toolbox for professional users. However, the DVA is much more than a single tool for state planning: its full potential is realized through cross-functional use across various planning institutions and specialist areas.

# Thinking of planning tools, data, and analyses nationwide and across disciplines!

Thanks to a centralized approach to data management, the DVA enables the provision of tools, analyses, and data across disciplinary boundaries and is particularly cost-effective to operate in the case of nationwide use. This is becoming increasingly important in times of limited personnel and financial resources. This applies not only to the operation of planning software but also to its goal:

An efficient, nationwide supply requires innovative and central-local planning approaches to plan medical staff, teaching staff, fire protection facilities, or retail locations spatially in a resource-efficient and targeted manner. The increasing need for collaboration between sectors – be it in healthcare, education, fire protection, or retail – makes integrated planning indispensable.

# Data and Topics of the DVA

Initially, the prototype from TU Dresden includes the following infrastructures from open data sources:

Educational Infrastructures Healthcare Infrastructure Local Supply
Kindergartens and primary & secondary schools Hospitals, general practitioners and specialists in primary and secondary care Discount stores, supermarkets, and other grocery stores

# Requested Topics / Wishes

Interest in the DVA ranges from ministries and state authorities to private or municipal initiatives active in various fields. We are exploring the feasibility of new approaches and are actively seeking funding partners. Are you also interested in developing your own topics?

Feel free to contact us! We help you network with other stakeholders in planning and coordinate suitable cooperation opportunities.

DVA Requests

Example requests:

Fire Protection Energy Infrastructure Municipal Heat Planning
How can necessary equipment for volunteer fire departments be optimally allocated? What potential for wind turbines can be unlocked if relaxed minimum distance rules apply? Can the simple DVA interface and DVA methods support municipal heat planning?

# A Platform for Everyone!

Our vision is to establish the DVA not only as a planning tool with versatile functions but also as a platform for exchange between professionals and regional planners. They should not only have access to high-quality infrastructure data but also benefit from the planning approaches of others. In this way, the DVA promotes transparent, efficient, and forward-looking planning that connects across institutional and disciplinary boundaries. Implementation is most effective at the state level.
